Andrea Perry of Musical Duo Kaliyo Relies On HARMAN’s Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Bundle

Posted on 14:09 by Unknown
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – For over 15 years Andrea Perry has had a varied musical career, she’s contributed the music for dozens of video games, TV shows, movies and more. She currently runs Andrea Perry Productions, which has released three solo albums (with a fourth in the making) and along with Sarah Sharp is one half of indie pop music duo Kaliyo, whose songs have been licensed worldwide for TV, commercials and Internet marketing videos. After using countless other reverb software programs Perry was looking for something new and ultimately discovered HARMAN’s Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Bundle.

“I was using other reverb software for a while but found myself looking for a change,” said Perry, “so I started reading reviews and doing research on various music and recording websites. “The Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Bundle seemed to be highly respected by a lot of people doing a lot of different styles of music. I downloaded the demo version and fell in love with it right away when I heard it on Sarah’s voice. When the demo expired, the tracks I had used the PCM Native Reverb Bundle plug-ins on suddenly sounded very dull! It didn’t take long before I felt like I couldn’t function without the plug-ins.”

Although the PCM Native Reverb Bundle offers 7 exclusive Lexicon reverbs and effects and hundreds of studio presets, Perry finds herself drawn to the Vintage Plate and Hall settings the most. “I don’t know how to elaborate on this except to say that I just really like the way the Lexicon plug-ins improve the tracks, especially vocals, percussion and acoustic guitars. But when you come down to it, the plug-ins flatter pretty much everything.”

“The Lexicon reverbs add dimension and sound smooth and lush. They just make things sound better. The presets are also very helpful as starting points towards getting the sounds I want as I consider myself a non-technical person. If I’m working on a vocal, for example, I’ll grab a vintage plate reverb preset and then tweak that. If I had to start from nothing I’d be lost.”

“We are very lucky to work with artists of Andrea’s talent,” stated Noel Larson Market Manager for Recording, Tour and Portable PA at HARMAN Signal Processing. “Her ability to seamlessly cross from popular to commercial works with the same plug-ins shows the power of our reverbs. She exemplifies our brand motto, When you hear music, you hear Lexicon.”

Perry continues to collaborate with Sarah Sharp in Kaliyo and is currently working on her fourth solo album, “Four,” doing production work for 21-year-old singer/songwriter Ariel Abshire and composing for more commercials and videos. Through it all, Perry notes there’s one constant in her variegated musical career: “I now use the Lexicon PCM Native Reverb Bundle on every session.”

HARMAN’s Crown Audio Amplifiers Power the Public Address/Life Safety System In Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station

Posted on 13:49 by Unknown
POINT LEPREAU, New Brunswick — The Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station, a power plant located near New Brunswick, Canada, recently underwent a complete audio upgrade featuring HARMAN’s Crown CTs Series Amplifiers. Point Lepreau, which began operating in 1983, has been redesigned to meet all current nuclear facility standards including its public address and life safety systems.

“Since 9/11, much closer attention has been paid to life safety systems,” said Steve O’Rourke, Audio Division Manager of Backman Vidcom, the Halifax, Nova Scotia integrator responsible for installing the plant-wide public address system. “Along with security, fire protection and rescue systems, the PA system has an extremely important role in plant safety. People need to be able to hear announcements and alerts clearly – it can be a matter of life and death in an emergency situation.”

The Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station system includes 18 Crown CTs Series CTs 8200USP/CN power amplifiers with CobraNet™ networking cards and 32 Crown CTs 2000 amps with PIP3 card connectivity. “This gives us a total of 208 channels and 92,800 watts of power,” O’Rourke noted. “We needed the networking capability the Crown amps provide because we designed the installation to be a completely self-monitoring system.”

Since the previous PA was 30 years old it needed to be completely replaced. “This gave us the opportunity to take advantage of the latest advancements in amplifier and speaker design and system control. What the plant needed was a ‘Voice of God’ PA that could reliably deliver pages all day long and could be clearly heard for any alert and emergency situations that might occur. It had to be intelligible even over the adverse noise conditions that occur in a large industrial complex,” O’Rourke stated.

Equally important, the system absolutely had to keep functioning during emergency situations and had to be CSA (Canadian Standards Association) certified and assembled to nuclear-grade standards. For these reasons O’Rourke only used most reliable components and built in a level of redundancy so that the PA would keep working even if parts of it incurred physical damage.

“The Crown amplifiers proved ideal for this unique situation because of their networking, internal processing and status reporting capabilities. We also chose them for their reliability, limited current draw and small thermal footprint,” added O’Rourke. “The flexibility of the Crown amps was key for making this installation work. I can’t imagine having undertaken this project with any other amplifier.”

“Everything in this installation had to be the best possible – even the quality of the equipment racks had to be literally nuclear-grade – and that is why there was no question about us using anything but Crown amplifiers,” O’Rourke concluded.

Mahajak Trio Supplies HARMAN Studer OnAir 2500 to RTB Tutong Studio

Posted on 06:00 by Unknown

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Brunei — Radio Televisyen Brunei (Radio Television Brunei or RTB), the state broadcaster of Brunei, runs five radio networks from its base at Bandar Seri Begawan—these are National FM, Pilihan FM, Pelangi FM, Harmoni FM and Nur Islam FM. Recently a HARMAN Studer OnAir 2500 fixed frame console, configured with 18 faders, became the de facto choice for its regional studio in the Tutong district. Previously the broadcasters had been using a Studer 916 for their on-air studio for the past 15 years, and according to the operators, superior sound quality, reliability and the user friendly interface were the main factors in continuing to specify Studer.

According to Mahajak Trio Senior Manager, Sales and Project, Lee Chin Kah, the station had been looking for a reliable, fully flexible and cost-effective solution. The tender was awarded to AFS Engineering Kuala Lumpur for the complete integration and the console was supplied by the HARMAN Malaysia distributor, Mahajak Trio Electronic Sdn Bhd.

A spokesman for the RTB engineering team was equally positive. “We needed a console that was reliable, well supported from the supplier and the manufacturer, fully featured and sufficiently flexible to meet our workflow needs. Furthermore, no advance programming skills are required.

“The OnAir 2500 has all the features available in Studer’s complete range of OnAir consoles and provides a fully scalable platform of solutions to broadcasters.”

All Studer OnAir consoles are fully customisable in workflow requirements, and although stand-alone in configuration, the OA2500 can be fully integrated into a Studer ‘Relink’ control and audio networking environment, as required.

HARMAN Soundcraft Si Performer 3 32-Channel Console Takes the Stage at Northview High School’s Max Colley Jr. Performing Arts Center

Posted on 07:50 by Unknown

GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan — Northview High School in Grand Rapids, Michigan has a dedicated music and arts building, the Max Colley Jr. Performing Arts Center, which has been open since 1998 and houses a 750-seat auditorium used for concerts, plays, musicals and other events. After 15 years, the limitations of the center’s original live sound console were becoming all too apparent, prompting an upgrade to a HARMAN Soundcraft Si Performer 3 32-channel digital console with built-in DMX lighting control.

The school wanted to make the move from an analog to a digital console, but more importantly, it needed many more inputs than the previous console could provide. “Over the years we’ve grown to where we use 20 wireless microphones, plus area microphones for the chorus and more for our larger musical productions—and by the time we’d get to miking the pit band we had run out of inputs,” said Michael Frank, Performing Arts Center Director at “The Max.” “We would have to patch in a second mixing board for the pit band, fed into an input of the main console. This got ugly as we couldn’t mix the individual instruments in the pit band the way we needed to for monitors and didn’t have enough control of the final mix.”

Michael also wanted a console that wouldn’t take up more space since there was limited room in the auditorium’s control booth. After doing his homework, and working with Bob McLaughlin of local dealer Central Interconnect, Frank determined the Soundcraft Si Performer 3 digital live sound console was the best solution, used with a 32-input Soundcraft Compact Stagebox.

“I was impressed by what the Si Performer 3 offered for the price,” Frank said. “What you get for what you pay for is incredible.”

Frank set up the Si Performer 3 console in the control booth and the Compact Stagebox on the auditorium’s stage, using just two Cat5 cables to connect them together. This allows the wireless microphone receivers to be placed right next to him by the Si Performer 3 in case there’s an issue where he might have to swap out a mic channel, and the convenience of placing the Compact Stagebox right by the stage where additional mics can be easily connected.

The Soundcraft Si Performer 3 provided another benefit Frank hadn’t even considered at first. The console is so easy to use and understand that he’s now training students on how to use the console, to the point where they can run the show and Frank said he “doesn’t have to do anything but watch.”

“In fact, with the training they receive with me, six of my students have gone on to work with the local stagehands union and a number of them have gone on to college as Technical Theater Majors,” he added.

In particular, Michael and his students like the Si Performer 3’s FaderGlow™ color-coded faders, the ability to choose from 14 mix outs and the built-in DMX 512 lighting control. During smaller productions and lectures, just one person can handle both sound and lighting.

“The Soundcraft Si Performer 3 is exactly what we needed—we now have total control over all the sound and all the lighting,” Frank noted.

HARMAN’s JBL VTX Line Arrays Put Slash in Pole Position

Posted on 07:15 by Unknown

NORTHRIDGE, California  – Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist, Slash (featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators) recently played a sold-out show in Poland—at the Spodek in Katowice—with the help of HARMAN’s JBL VTX line arrays. Promoted by Metal Mind Productions, it was the iconic guitarist’s only show in the country.

The VTX system has taken off in Poland—as it has across the globe – and providing sound reinforcement was PROSOUND with Music Cook supporting the event and making up the inventory required. The sound design saw hangs of eight VTX V25 fullsize line array elements front-facing on each side of the stage, with 12 VTX G28 subs (stacked vertically in L/C/R blocks of four). These were powered by Crown Audio VRack 12000HD amplification systems.

To ensure that the capacity crowd received even coverage wherever they were seated, two hangs of six JBL VERTEC® VT4888DP midsize line array elements were deployed as outfills, with a further eight filling the front rows in the arena to deliver a smooth, 180-degree dispersion pattern.

The Katowice show proved a worthy showcase for the band to work through tracks from their new album Apocalyptic Love. FOH engineer, Tim ‘Quake’ Mark, who was mixing the sound on a Soundcraft Vi4 digital console, said he was delighted with the sound setup—as did Music Cook proprietor, Irek Policht.

Speaking of JBL’s groundbreaking D2 Dual Driver found in the V25, Mark said, “It makes the VTX sound like no other system. It’s as if this is the sound of the 21st century while other systems stayed in the 20th century.”

The VTX V25 is a full-size, 3-way, high-directivity line array element, featuring two 2000W, 15-inch Differential Drive® woofers mounted in die-cast aluminum baffles, with four 8-inch Differential Drive midrange transducers and three of the revolutionary D2 Dual Drivers mounted on a 3rd generation waveguide and patented RBI Radiation Boundary Integrator® assembly. The VTX G28 is a dual 18-inch subwoofer, employing two 18-inch transducers featuring Differential Drive technology and is reverse cardioid-arrayable.

Providing technical assistance and crewing duties for the two rental companies were Daniel Dybała, Dominik Piasecki, Piotr Gilewski, Andrzej Jach, Sebastian Dudek, Tomasz Bochenek and Marcin Kowalski.

Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay’s Convocation Hall Gets High-Tech Sonic Upgrade with a HARMAN Professional Audio System Solution

Posted on 07:10 by Unknown

POWAI, India — The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B) recently completed a major renovation of its 1,500-seat Convocation Hall.  The venue’s new interior spaces were designed by Mumbai architects Sandeep Shikre and Associates. Mumbai- based systems integrator ADJM Technologies was contracted to provide expert consultancy on the A/V system upgrade, which included HARMAN’s AKG microphones, BSS signal processing, Crown power amplifiers, JBL loudspeakers and a Soundcraft console.

The IIT-B is recognized as a worldwide leader in the field of engineering education and research, and is known for the quality of its faculty and the outstanding caliber of students and alumni who are successful entrepreneurs, scientists and leaders in multi-national companies. The IIT-B campus is situated in picturesque surroundings at Powai, Mumbai and extends over 200 hectares. In the recent past, the IITB has expanded to now include more than 584 major buildings, including a Convocation Hall, which recently had the honor of being inaugurated by India’s Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh.

The primary use of the Convocation Hall is for graduations and convocation, and the hall also hosts audiences on a regular basis for presentations, training programs. It can also be configured for use as a theater for viewing movies, and serves as a focal point of faculty and student activity.

“As an institution that has been the hallmark of technology and innovation, our mandate for the A/V systems upgrade at the auditorium was to achieve crystal-clear, high-quality sound with ease of operation and maintenance,” said Prof. N. Venkataramani, Dean (IPS), Infrastructure, Planning & Support, IIT-B. “After a thorough study of the market, we were convinced that a Harman high quality audio system, as a first choice among other brands, supported by expert consultancy from ADJM Technologies, was the right choice, thus fulfilling our audio requirements in an integrated manner that is befitting of the institution’s reputation and infrastructure”.

“IIT–B management was very clear on the requirement for Convocation Hall to have an audio and video system that was world-class,” said Anand D. Mistry, CEO of ADJM Technologies. “After evaluating the needs with the technical support of our local HARMAN dealer, those involved in the decision agreed that an all-HARMAN system would best meet the requirements and provide the highest levels of performance and flexibility. The project needed not just individual products, but an integrated system design to ensure that the system’s output would be optimal for all applications – be it presentations, theatre or training programs.”

Mistry continued, “We didn’t just want to upgrade the Convocation Hall A/V system – we wanted it to be future-proof for at least 10 years. In addition to using high-end audio components from HARMAN, we designed the video and control systems using the very latest digital technologies. The system’s infrastructure design is so elegant that a single Cat-6 cable was specified for distribution of video and control signals throughout the entire hall.”

Once system design parameters were established by ADJM Technologies, the entire renovation including installation of the audio and video components, switching, control systems and wiring, took the project 60 days to complete, from start to finish,” Mistry noted. “Since everything in the system is so well-designed and works so well together, the installation itself went quite smoothly and we did not encounter any loopholes or difficulties, ensuring the project was complete well within the stipulated time.”

The Convocation Hall system includes six JBL SRX725 loudspeakers, four SRX712M stage monitors and two SRX728S subwoofers, selected on the basis of high performance and simplicity in installation and for their ability to deliver powerful bass for both cinema sound and live sound applications in the auditorium. The speakers are driven by Crown CDi 1000, XLS 2000 and Crown XTi 6002 power amplifiers. The multipurpose auditorium’s complex audio matrix requirements are managed by a BSS Soundweb London BLU-100 signal processor. Two AKG PCC-160 boundary layer mics and a Soundcraft FX16ii 16-channel mixing console complete the installation.

Mistry also explained that support from the HARMAN team throughout the design, specification and installation phase was excellent. “They came immediately to the site when we informed them that we had the go-ahead for the project, even though we let them know at the last moment! Ultimately, the staff at IIT-B is very impressed by the overall performance of the system,” Mistry concluded.

Commenting on the continuing success of  key audio installations in the institutional segment, Prashant Govindan, Sales Director, Harman Professional India, said, “ It is  a matter of great pride for HARMAN to be able to meet the audio requirements of a prestigious institution like IIT–Bombay. The requirements of the institute and the short timelines were seamlessly met by our Harman Professional team led by Karan Kathuria, National Sales Manager (Installed sound), working directly with ADJM. The proof is the crystal-clear audio now being enjoyed by the students and the entire campus community in the auditorium. Harman’s high-definition product range and technical capabilities, coupled with ADJM’s expert support, have proven to be a winning combination.”

Other similar projects recently undertaken in India by the HARMAN team include the Guwahati Medical College Auditorium and Chettinad Medical College Auditorium in Chennai. Worldwide, HARMAN has a rich heritage as the sound solutions partner for numerous, prominent auditorium, theatre and performance venues, including 10 stadiums at India’s 2010 Commonwealth Games and the 55th annual GRAMMY® Awards in Hollywood, CA.

Hanan Takes HARMAN’s AKG WMS4500 Wireless System On the Road With Alicia Keys’ “Set The World On Fire” Tour

Posted on 09:54 by Unknown

VIENNA, Austria – Hanan, an Israel-born guitarist, who moved to New York with his family at 12, has built his music career from the ground up, sharing the stage and studio with world-renowned acts, such as Jennifer Hudson, Bonnie Raitt, Steve Jordan, Keyshia Cole, Anthony Hamilton, Gladys Knight, Kanye West, Nas, BB King, and Roy Hargrove, among many others.  The multi-talented musician can wow a crowd on the guitar, bass, keys, drums and nearly any other instrument he can get his hands on. Currently on tour around the globe playing in Alicia Keys’ band, Hanan relies on HARMAN’s AKG WMS4500 wireless system to showcase his true, natural guitar sound.

“Until I tried the AKG WMS4500, I was fed up with other unreliable wireless systems in the industry and was seriously considering using a very long cable during shows,” stated Hanan. “Most wireless systems I’ve played with affect my sound negatively, especially the high end. The shimmer of the guitar and tone depth are lost. With the WMS4500, it’s not about what the system is providing, but what it’s NOT taking away.”

Hanan plays lead guitar on Alicia Keys’ international “Set The World On Fire” Tour.  With more than 100 scheduled performances, the show is traveling through North America and Europe in 2013 and boasts a tremendous stage and set.
During the performances, the wireless solution allows Hanan to participate freely – walking, running and dancing around stage with the multiple GRAMMY®Award-winning Keys.

“The WMS4500 Is significantly better than everything I’ve ever used,” Hanan continued. “AKG is off the chain! It facilitates my movements around the stage and I can put on the best show fans expect from Alicia Keys.”

The dbx PS6 connects to a PMC16 Personal Monitor Controller via a standard 12-volt DC center-negative cable.  The PMC can be configured to operate with either 48kHz or 96kHz D/A conversion. Its built-in dbx PeakStop™ limiting prevents the possibility of signal overload. The PMC16 is future-ready, thanks to its USB port, DSC and Ethernet port for future updates.

The dbx PS6 power supply will be available in April 2013 at a price of $299.95.

Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences Includes HARMAN’s Lexicon Processors In Its Audio Recording Curriculum

Posted on 06:00 by Unknown
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) is a technical school specializing in audio recording, engineering and production education. Its Tempe, Arizona and Gilbert, Arizona facilities train students for entry-level jobs in the recording industry. Students are immersed in learning how to use a wide range of professional gear, including HARMAN’s Lexicon PCM92 Reverb and Effects Processor and MX400 4-In/4-Out Reverb/Effects Processor with USB “Hardware Plug-In” capability.

Four Lexicon MX400 processors are integrated into the school’s analog and digital Pro Tools-based Studio A, B and C facilities, and two PCM92 processors are in the main Studio A rooms on each campus. In addition to being part of each studio’s gear, they’re a fundamental part of the students’ education.

“Our students get exposed to Lexicon early on,” said Tony Nunes, audio recording and production instructor at CRAS. “They start by learning basic chops and how to integrate outboard gear into the total recording setup. Our focus is very much hands-on, and we want students to be familiar with Lexicon as it’s what they’ll be running into in professional record production studios.” In addition to the MX400 and PCM92, CRAS is equipped with legacy Lexicon PCM 80 and PCM 70 reverb and effects processors.

The Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences curriculum is organized in cycles, with Lexicon used in a number of programs and clinics in the cycles. Nunes begins by teaching students the basics of time-based processing including getting familiar with the MX400 and PCM92’s effects and parameters, choosing the best reverb for a vocalist or particular instrument, learning proper signal routing, when to use mono or stereo ins and outs and getting familiar with using multiple effects on different tracks.

Students progress to working on getting the best sounds from drums, vocalists, a three-piece band, electric and acoustic guitars and other instruments, using mics, the MX400 and PCM92 and other studio tools. For the eighth cycle, students must engineer a drum clinic where they choose the mics, put up a previously recorded session and overdub new tracks with a live drummer. Part of the assignment is to choose the Lexicon plate reverb that sounds best with the snare and sits well in the mix.

“We are very excited to be a small part of the wonderful work being done at CRAS,” said Noel Larson, Market Manager for Portable PA, Tour and Recording at HARMAN Signal Processing. “Lexicon defines reverb for modern recording and we want to make sure the next generation of top performers, engineers and producers feel the same way the current generation does.”

“Teaching our students how to mix is very much integrated into the curriculum at every step,” Nunes noted, “but we really start getting into time-based processing and advanced techniques for using the MX400 and PCM92 during the last three cycles.” Here, students learn to fine-tune every aspect of their mix, dig deep into Lexicon’s choice of mono and stereo reverbs, filters and modulation effects and discover how they can be used to enhance the acoustic ambience of a track and add the finishing touches to a recording.

Nunes concluded, “In these sessions the Lexicon 80, 70, MX400 and PCM92 are always on and are always providing a contribution to the mixes.”

HARMAN’s Soundcraft to Launch Si Expression Store Tour 2013

Posted on 13:10 by Unknown

NORTHRIDGE, California — HARMAN’s Soundcraft today announced the launch of its “Si Expression Store Tour 2013,” which will bring its 73-foot demo truck to Guitar Center stores nationwide to demonstrate the new Soundcraft Si Expression digital consoles. The Si Expression models feature the company’s newest DSP, component technologies and manufacturing techniques to create Soundcraft’s most powerful cost-effective digital console series ever.

The demo truck is equipped with Soundcraft Si Expression consoles and also has a complete Studer studio setup built around the flagship Vista 9 console. Attendees will be able to enjoy hands-on demos and training and get plenty of mixing time on the Si Expression consoles.

The tour kicks off on April 14 at Guitar Center Hollywood and will make 24 more stops at Guitar Center locations nationwide before ending in Oklahoma City on May 18. The events are free and open to everyone and will include giveaways.

“The Si Expression Store Tour 2013 offers a rare opportunity for consumers and professionals to get up close and personal with these fantastic consoles and get tips and tricks from Soundcraft factory experts,” said Katy Templeman-Holmes of Soundcraft Studer.

The three Soundcraft Si Expression digital live sound consoles are identical in their feature sets and provide 66 inputs to mix—they differ only in their number of faders and local mic amps—from the highly portable 19-inch rack mountable Si Expression 1 to the Si Expression 3 with 30+2 faders and 32 mic/line inputs. All models offer a wealth of features including highly configurable routing and connectivity options.

HARMAN’s DigiTech Pedals Can Take Everything The Spits’ Sean Wood Can Dish Out

Posted on 12:51 by Unknown
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Loud, noisy and dirty punk for the people – that’s the Spits for you. No here today, gone tomorrow punk band, the Spits and guitarist Sean Wood have been dishing out their sonic mayhem since 2000, with six albums and 15 singles under their belts. Through it all, Wood has done his best to abuse HARMAN’S DigiTech pedals, with no end in sight.

Wood started playing 18 years ago in Kalamazoo, Michigan and soon moved to Seattle, playing music for fun with the guys in the band who eventually became the Spits. “We weren’t pleased by most of the bands out there at the time. We wanted to be original and powerful,” explained Wood. Tours with Marky Ramone, King Khan and the Shrines, NOFX, Rocket from the Crypt and others followed and today, Spits continues to excite – and pummel – their audiences with their frenzied, yet wilfully controlled and crafted sound.

The Spits have used DigiTech gear on every one of their past and present projects and tours. From the PDS 3000 and 8000 delay pedals to the Metal Master distortion pedal. For the current tour they’re using two Vocalist Live 5 vocal harmony processors, a JamMan Solo looper pedal and the iStomp programmable pedal.

“The Vocalist Live 5 has been especially useful on the road. As a touring band we have to deal with different venues, PA systems and sound engineers and it’s nice to always have your vocals the way you want them! The Vocalist Live 5 is the best – it has so many vocal ranges and effects to choose from. And like all the DigiTech pedals we’ve used, it’s very tough, which is important when you’re pounding on your gear without mercy night after night,” stated Wood.

“We use the JamMan Solo with our keyboards. It helps us to create compelling intros and outros –it’s just ideally suited for live performance.” Wood has recently discovered the usefulness and convenience of the iStomp. “Instead of bringing six pedals to the studio or the stage I can bring one, and get pretty much any sound I want – I love it.”

The Spits continue on their unconventional path as they finish up their new four-song EP…sung entirely in German. The Spits are also working on a new album, due in 2013 and as if that weren’t enough, they’re are working on a cable TV show called “Chucky and the Spits.”

“I need pedals that are tough as steel, practical and sound great,” Wood concluded. “DigiTech pedals have all of these qualities.”

Producer/DJ Keith Shocklee Praises Comfort And Quality Of HARMAN’s AKG K702 Headphones During Long Studio Hours

Posted on 08:37 by Unknown

VIENNA, Austria – For decades, original member of Public Enemy’s (inductees to the 2013 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame) production team The Bomb Squad, producer and DJ Keith Shocklee has spent countless hours in studios perfecting his own and fellow musicians’ sounds. With a new home studio currently being constructed, Shocklee has taken his mixing mobile – whether on the road or in his living room. Paired with his HARMAN AKG K702 headphones, Shocklee receives true response from his tracks with complete comfort even after hours of wear.
“From the cool factor to the comfort, K702’s truly match the sound of my JBL monitors, so I can produce and mix directly from the headphones,” said Shocklee. “With the K702’s, I can hear all of the compression from new records today and their lack of dynamics. I always knew it was there, but I never had a headphone that brought that to life.”
Currently, Shocklee’s latest project – an EP mix of hip-hop and electronic – is being produced through AKG’s K702 headphones. The album takes the “Spectrum City” sound concept Shocklee and fellow Public Enemy founder Chuck D created in a college radio station in Long Island in the 80’s and revamps it, adding guest vocals and sampling from some of Shocklee’s original music.
“The K702’s are simply lighter; very light in fact. The band adjusts to my head naturally and the only thing you can ask more of a headphone set is they sound amazing. They do; it’s the perfect headphone. I can work for six, eight, ten hours and there is absolutely no ear fatigue,” Shocklee continued.
“I’ve always been a fan of AKG – they are the original studio headphones to me. When we first got into the business, all everyone had was AKG,” according to Shocklee. “K702’s step up the headphone game. You can even master on them, which is incredible. They let you hear exactly what’s missing.”
